Terms of use

By using PetFeedCalc (petfeedcalc.com), you agree to these terms.

Veterinary disclaimer: PetFeedCalc is an informational tool, not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. Our feeding calculator provides estimates based on published formulas from the National Research Council (NRC) and AAFCO guidelines. Every dog is different. Always consult your veterinarian before making significant changes to your dog's diet, especially if your dog has health conditions, is pregnant, or is nursing.

What this tool does

PetFeedCalc calculates estimated daily calorie needs and portion sizes using standard veterinary formulas. The calculations use your inputs (weight, age, activity level, food type) and general nutritional data. Results are estimates, not prescriptions.

Accuracy

We source nutritional data from AAFCO nutrient profiles and USDA databases where applicable. Calorie calculations follow the NRC resting energy requirement (RER) formula: 70 x (body weight in kg)^0.75. While these formulas are widely used in veterinary practice, individual dogs may need more or less food depending on metabolism, breed, health status, and other factors your vet can evaluate.
